A European consortium with 4 car manufacturers and 20 industrial and academic partners funded by EU H2020 joined forces towards the development of dedicated Gas-Only internal combustion engine processes. The SCCER Mobility research groups working in capacity area A2.2 (Empa, ETH-LAV, ETH-IDSC) together with the companies VW, TU Poznan, Ricardo and Continental will work together on the development of a new lean burn combustion concept. The goal of the team is to achieve diesel-like efficiencies what supposed a 20% fuel consumption reduction compared with today’s best available gas engine technology.
